My Kitchen Garden Plan // Garden Answer

Kitchen Garden Planner – https://goo.gl/BGarz4
Organic Seeds – https://goo.gl/F752wj

I’m so excited to start my kitchen garden this year!!! I’m not sure exactly how much space I’ll have to go with since the yard is still under a couple feet of snow, but I got a pretty good start on the design! I had a ton of fun designing with the help of the Kitchen Garden Planner – I could seriously play around with the planner for hours… 🙂 For all the beginner gardeners out there, they have 26 pre-planned gardens you can look through to help you get started with seed collections to go along with a few of them as well as many other seeds to look through! Planning and anticipating is *almost* the best part! 😉 Thanks for watching! ~Laura

Winter Oddity In Cedarburg WI – Wisconsin Garden Video Blog 746

See More Garden Goodies: http://www.WisconsinGarden.com – – – We learned about an unusual winter oddity in Cedarburg, WI last night on the evening news. Because of the warmer weather, snow melts, and river flood stage, one of the four dams created 20’ river foam build up above the ice surface. This is a rare foam event was larger than any in the past had ever seen. As long as we are filming in Cedarburg we thought we’d provide you with a quick tour of historic Cedarburg and Lynn’s childhood adventures. Cedarburg was founded in the early 1830’s by Irish and German immigrants establishing their homes and businesses around Cedar Creek.

This city has over 200 buildings currently on the historic register along with another 100 buildings on the outskirts of town. Only 20 miles north of Milwaukee, Cedarburg is powered by their locally owned utility company and features multiple festivals, cultural center, events, woolen mill, feed grain mill, Texaco’s iconic pagoda gas station, winery, specialty shops, family-owned restaurants, micro breweries, spas, churches, and award-winning schools.

This quaint town supports a population of approximately 11,500 and another 6,000 living in the surrounding area and offers one of the last free county fairs in the country. Despite this unusual winter oddity, this is a city worth adding to your Bucket List when visiting Wisconsin anytime of the year.

Transplanting African Violets – Wisconsin Garden Video Blog 744

See More Garden Goodies: http://www.WisconsinGarden.com – – – The middle of winter is the perfect time for us to begin transplanting African Violets. We will be dividing, propagating and repotting several color species creating a special mixture of African potting mix along with lots of perlite. African Violets thrive in a loose soil mix with ample drainage because they don’t like their roots sitting in soggy soil. We’ve also enclosed several tender transplants inside plastic zip lock bags to help create a mini greenhouse effect where their roots can more gently develop. Baby Violet clusters will be transplanted in small plastic cup containers that do not have any drainage holes. That’s because we observed and check them several times a day on our kitchen incubator window sill, watering them only as needed. Once our propagated leaves produce baby plants, we will move them to a southern window grow light area. It’s recommended that one should transplant their African Violets at least once or twice a year to maintain a healthy growth and root system. Constant care in removing dying leaves and old stems from collecting on the soil surface, becoming an open invitation to bugs and disease. Get started and have fun transplanting your African Violets.
